To determine more effective ways to serve accounts and route to market efficiency, opportunities continue to be evaluated by both independent operators and strategic organizations. We were contacted by the owner of an independent distributor, known as a go-to partner for restaurants and independent retailers seeking wines and spirits of the highest quality. After years of considering ways to optimize their strategic route to market capabilities and positioning within the market, the owners consulted with Azur to evaluate strategic options. The evaluation and analysis resulted in the marketing of this high-quality operation in a strategic state that was still a gap for many leading U.S. distributors.

Today, there is a strong demand for high-quality route to market opportunities with best-in-class wine and spirits portfolios. Our priority was to target leading U.S. distributors who were seeking to expand their footprint in a quality manner to this specific market. We approached strategic buyers who are some of the most sophisticated and service-minded distributors in the country - and nearly all were interested in the opportunity.

The outcome of this transaction was key to opening new doors for this strategic buyer, as well as current and future suppliers and customers. It brought the buyer closer in proximity to one of its key customers, a leading U.S. retailer. In addition, the expansion into a new state further strengthened buyer capabilities with other chain customers. Azur was pleased to serve as strategic consultant and advisor on this project, as the opportunity allowed both the seller and buyer teams to arrive at a solution that helped both companies and their employees.
